A producer who farms near Letellier has combined his first field of soybeans.

Allan Calder planted just over 3,000 acres of wheat, canola, soybeans, grain corn, and sunflowers this spring.

He says the first acres of soys came off in good shape, noting he expected 25 bushels per acre but ended up closer to 35.

Calder feels this first field will be indicative of the rest of his soybean crop.

He adds it was the earliest variety he planted, plus it was slightly drier than his other fields.
