After 2 years of planning and fourteen months of construction Abbeyfield in Dominion City is up and running. The Seniors Housing held an Open House this past Sunday for the general public to get a peek at what suites are available and how much room they can expect to have.

"To be able to ensure that the feel through the whole facility feels like home was the whole purpose of the buildings plan" says Housing Consultant Gordon Daman. Daman mentioned that the original budget for Abbeyfield was 1.5 million dollars. The tenders for construction came in below 1.3 million and that budget was not exceeded, even with some minor weather delays that took place over the summer months.

Before the open house that took place this past Sunday, Abbeyfield had three confirmed tenants. News Reporter Rochelle Rawdon caught up with one of the future residents Wilma Carlson and asked her why she chose to move to Abbeyfield.
