Some stood in the rain, but most people stayed in their vehicles while showing their support for the drivers participating in the annual Big Rigs Big Hearts truck rally Saturday in Winkler.

The annual truck rally was held in Winkler this past weekend.  118 rigs took part in the fundraiser.  $8,000 was raised in total, with $4,000 each for local charities Katie Cares and Donate Love, to help a family in need.

The day involved activities at the Stanley Ag Grounds, the truck convoy, and a concert featuring The Harvey Allen Band and The Color.

Big Rigs Big Hearts board member Karina Bueckert says they were thrilled with the support, despite the soggy weather.  She says they were so grateful for the people that came back for the concert, and for The Color and The Harvey Allen Band for going on with the concert as planned, even though it was still drizzling right up until 7:00.  Bueckert says they appreciate the all around support.  "The support is there, they want to be there."

Bueckert made mention of an individual who sat in a lawn chair under an umbrella through the pouring rain in front of the stage waiting for the concert.

Susanne Krahn and here family have been volunteering for Big Rigs Big Hearts since it began 4 years ago.  She says her brother in-law was looking for a way to help family in need of financial help after their son was born prematurely.

Krahn says for her and her family, being involved as a volunteer for big rigs has made them more aware of the needs in the community.  It's also made them want to be more involved in helping out in anyway they can.

The sun did shine through the clouds for some of the day's activities
