The Canada Senior Games in Portage has received federal funding.

Portage-Lisgar MP Brian Pallister presented a 65 thousand dollar cheque to the Games Organization Committee.

Pallister says the participants live a healthy senior lifestyle that everyone should try to attain.

Meanwhile Co-Chair Charlie Clifford is pleased to see the federal government support an event that brings Canadians from coast-to-coast to Portage.

He says that the cheque shows the federal government thinks the games are important and they will continue.

They will be able to do things now that they would not have been able to do without the money.

Clifford's Co-Chair Lynn Switzer is pleased to see the cheque, explaining with 480 thousand-dollars raised, they can now focus on making these games great.

The games start August 29th.
