In a matter of only a few days, southern Manitoba will go from near summer-like conditions to a winter wonderland. That is according to Environment Canada, as a Colorado Low sits on the doorstep.

Temperatures the next couple of days are expected to remain warmer than normal, but then things change.

"It's a roller coaster out there," says Jason Knight with Environment Canada. "Things take a turn for the worse Tuesday night."

Knight says we will see rain move in late Tuesday as a Colorado Low enters Manitoba.

"We're looking at about 20 millimetres or thereabouts for Tuesday and Wednesday," says Knight. "Unfortunately, temperatures are going to continue to cool down, and that's going to turn to snow for Thursday and early Friday."

In southern Manitoba, we can expect to see a few centimetres of snow.

"Some of it might stick around, but hopefully it will melt down," says Knight. "It's not quite time to put away the winter tires."

And though only a few centimetres are expected in the southern portion of the province, the same cannot be said for areas to the north, where a special weather statement has been issued for places like Lynn Lake and Thompson. Knight says those areas could see 30 centimetres of snow.

Meanwhile, Knight says by Friday, the system should have rolled out of our region, and it should be a return to double-digit temperatures by Sunday.
