Criminal activity continues to drop in Winkler.

Police Chief Rick Hiebert says as of the end of June, 380 criminal files were investigated, compared to 452 at this time last year, a 19% decrease.

He says the most noticeable decrease is bike thefts, with only 16 reported this June compared to 80 or 90 two years ago.

Hiebert says June also allows them to be involved in a number of public relations events such as bike rodeos, tours, and their open house.

Hiebert encourages you to contact police anytime you witness suspicious behaviour.
