Volkswagon enthusiasts from all over North America will miss their annual movie at the Shamrock Drive-In next month.

Dubs at the Lake, which takes place in Killarney, will not have access to the outdoor theatre after heavy winds tore down the screen.

Organizer, Ryan Smith explained how they are now planning to spend their Saturday evening.

"After supper we all go out and take in a movie and now that's not an option. We are actually switching gears with that a little bit, we are adding a supper show and shine where all the Volkswagon crew from Dubs at the Lake will be there and we will open it up to anyone in the country with a classic or modified car that they want to show off. Do a little bit of fundraising to help kick off their fundraising for the movie screen."

Meanwhile, he described what the outdoor theatre means to Volkswagon enthusiasts.

"When I first started tossing around the idea of having a Volkswagon car show, I wanted the Shamrock Drive-In to be a pivotal part of the weekend," said Smith. "It's such a big part because it's such a nostalgic piece of history and why not throw that in and insert 50 to 100 old classic Volkswagon cars in front of the movie screen."

Smith added Drive-In owners, Joanne and Darren Struss have been a huge part of hosting the group over the weekend.

Last year the annual event attracted around 75 VW enthusiasts, and expects even more this year.

Smith stated he's not surprised with the positive response.

He shared VW car shows are also held in Fargo - North Dakota, different locations in Ontario and Vancouver, B.C.

The third annual Dubs at the Lake will be held at the beach parking lot August 20th and 21st.
