Motorcycle enthusiasts rallied to support children in hospital this weekend, raising money, awareness, donations of toys and other items. Invited by the Southern Manitoba Hog Chapter, riders from across the Pembina Valley drove into Winnipeg with donations of toys in tow for children receiving treatment at the Winnipeg Children's Hospital.

Organizer Shelly Walde explains despite delaying the event from Saturday to Sunday due to weather, they saw nearly 30 riders make the charity trek, adding the hospital is always blown away by the generosity of the participants.

"They only have funding for so much stuff," she says. "So we started asking for a wish list... and it was amazing how these little things are morale boosters, like nail polish for the teenagers going through chemotherapy... make-up kits make them feel pretty again."

"Things like that, you don't realize the hospital doesn't get funding for, and we wanted to make the community aware," she says.
