Winkler Police reported the 25 year male severely beaten at Valley Bowling Lanes in Winkler Saturday night has succumbed to his injuries.  The victim was struck several times with a pool cue.
    
Police say Zachary Straughan, 25, of Saskatoon Saskatchewan passed away yesterday at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
    
Police arrested 29 year old Justin Leslie Bird, 29, of Saskatchewan, who remains in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Center.  His next court appearance is scheduled for Morden Provincial Court on October 11th.
    
Bird was originally charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Investigators are in discussion with the crowns office regarding the possibility of upgrading charges.
