The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba received a roughly $1,000 donation from Manitoba Hydro Wednesday.

"The donation is from the employees at Manitoba Hydro. We donate every two weeks through our payroll reduction and then Manitoba Hydro matches us," shared Manitoba Hydro Charitable Donations Committee member Juanita Hately.

This money was raised throughout the local office's roughly fifty employee's.

Alzheimer Society of Manitoba's South Central Regional Coordinator Kathy Fehr noted increased awareness of its organization goes a long way. She stressed that anyone dealing with Alzheimer's isn't alone, they are there to help.

"The awareness is really the big thing. When families go through Dementia or happen to be a care giver for someone. They are not alone and often they feel isolated. It's good to connect and build a support group. It takes away that isolation that they may feel," said Fehr.

Fehr noted if anyone is going through or dealing with Dementia you should call the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba and they can help you greatly.
