W.J. Siemens Farm in Winkler were happy to win today's Meals in the Field with Pizza Haven, Sun Valley Co-op and Mandako Agri! We stopped by to thank them for the hard work they put in to feed families around the world.

When we visited they were in the middle of taking off wheat and canola and had just started potatoes. We asked production manager Matthew Friesen how things were looking.

"Too much rain, with lots of drown out spots. It's made spraying and combining difficult" he told us "Some area's are worse than others but, overall it's going to be okay."

Why so optimistic?

Matthew explained farmers are eternally optimistic and that you have to be, because not every field will work out but others will. Matthew and his crew look at the big picture with the thoughts that they'll make it through the year and farm again next year.

W.J. Siemens started out as a family farm but, quickly expanded and started hiring employees. Friesen mentioned everyone spends a lot of time together so it feels like they are family too!

"You look out for one another and you care about the guy working beside you, which makes for a safe working enviroment," Friesen responded when asked what the family feel does for the farm. He noted it also helps them to have more fun throughout the work day.

Everyone at W.J. would like to extend a huge thanks to Mandako for making this meal possible. They work with Mandako quite closely using their products and are appreciative of they innovation of products.

We would like to thank everyone we visited at W.J. Siemens Farm for working countless hours to help put food on our tables!
