Last week the Morden Community Thrift Store donated a significant amount of money back into the community, who shows them great support year after year.

"We are so happy with what we donate back to the community, and thrilled with the support we get," said Thrift Store president Jean Hildebrand. "Our goal is to bless as many people as we can and we can only do that with the help of the community. It's been an awesome year."

This year the store donated a total of $266,787 back into the City. This disbursement period saw $152,437.00 go to the new Tabor Home to furnish a pod of 20 rooms, the Youth for Christ received $12,000.00 for counselling staff, the Morden Police Department received $700.00 for street signage at the Maple Leaf Elementary School to help keep students and crossing guards safe.

"It feels really good. The Thrift Store has been excellent and very generous in their donations, since we started building the new Tabor Home," said the new Tabor Home board chair Wilf Warkentine.

Hildebrand stated the money donated back to the community was raised through the sale of items which were donated to the store. She added this wouldn't have been possible without the tremendous support from the community year after year.
