The following is the Morden Police Service Report for the period of August 15 to 22, as submitted by the department.

August 17th, 2016

A 41-year-old Morden man has been charged with breach of undertaking for being with an individual he was ordered not to have any communication with.  Police observed the man driving in his vehicle with the female passenger, both known to police.  The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested without incident.  He was released on a Promise to Appear in Morden Provincial Court in September.  

August 18th, 2016

Police received a call around 12:43 pm from a woman at the Morden Park who was witnessing a domestic assault.  The witness observed a male and female yelling at each other and then the male slapped the female and pushed her to the ground.  Police attended but were unable to locate the male or female in the park.  While leaving, the witness pointed out a male walking down Ole Street by Mountain Street to be the male individual she observed assaulting the woman.  The male was arrested for domestic assault and admitted that he did not mean to push the victim.  The accused and the victim are in an off and on relationship and have a 6-year-old son together.  Police spoke with the victim who was staying at relatives in Morden.  The victim advised that they had been arguing when the accused pushed her to the ground, injuring her knee.  The 32-year- old male from Thompson, Manitoba is charged with domestic assault and was released on a Promise to Appear in Morden Provincial Court in September.  

August 18th, 2016

Police received a report of an attempted break and enter to the Morden Elk’s storage shed located on Pembina Drive by the tennis courts.  Suspects kicked at the door damaging the lock, but entry was not gained.  This incident would have occurred sometime between August 16th and this date.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

August 18th, 2016

Police were called to a motor vehicle accident at the corner of 6th and Thornhill Street in Morden.  A vehicle was travelling east on Thornhill Street in the median lane and stopped in traffic to make a turn north onto 6th Street.  A second vehicle travelling west on Thornhill Street was travelling in the curb lane.  The first vehicle attempted to make the turn north onto 6th Street, failing to see the second vehicle travelling west.  There were no injuries as a result of the accident but both vehicles required to be towed from the scene.

August 21st, 2016

A vehicle was vandalized in an apartment complex parking lot situated at 221 Mountain Street in Morden.  The owner parked her 2012 white Hyundai Accent in the lot around 8:00 pm the night before.  When she came out this morning around 11:00 am, she noticed all four tires on her car were flat and slashed.   A suspect was identified who lived in the apartment complex and when police spoke with the individual, he admitted to damaging the tires because he was drinking and angry.  The accused also agreed to pay for the damages and immediately provided the funds to cover the cost of replacing the tires.  There were no charges as a result of this incident.
