Tuesday's rain was a welcome event for farmers.

Ray Giesbrecht farms south of Plum Coulee.

Giesbrecht says although the rain was good to see, more is still needed.

He says a lot of farmers he's spoken with are dealing with the same hot and dry conditions, resulting in smaller yields than expected.

Giesbrecht says he just finished combining 480 acres of caraway seed.

He says they took off a little less than expected because of the heat and dry conditions.

Giesbrecht says cereals should be okay to harvest without anymore rain this year.

He says, however, edible and soy beans could really use between half an inch and an inch of rain soon.
