Spring is bringing a lot of activity to Winkler, and Mayor Henry Siemens joined CFAM Radio 950 Morning Show Host Chris Sumner Wednesday morning for the latest In the Mayor's Chair.

They touched on campground bookings now open, Summer camp registration also underway and swimming lesson registration happening May 15th and 16th.

The Mayor also reviewed three major infrastructure projects either underway, or expected to start shortly. The list included the complete replacement of North Railway Avenue, something Siemens noted they are hoping will be done quite quickly once started... weather permitting.

"We know we're going to replace North Railway between Main Street and Highway 32, that's a pretty important thoroughfare for us as a community, but also for the businesses that are along that area, particularly Southern Potato," explained Siemens. "So, what we've worked out with the contractor is, weather permitting, we're going to tear that road out and replace it in thirty working day."

The Mayor noted it's exciting to know this kind of timeline could be achieved, as long as the weather cooperates, and having a contractor willing to work with the city in this way.
