The Back 40 board is raising money for their spring festival with a first time event called Oktoberfest, an evening of music at the Morden Friendship Centre.

Live music will be provided by a dance band: Frank Maclean and the New Originals. Local singer Jayme Giesbrecht will also be performing for the event. Giesbrecht released her first album in September called "To Keep You From Falling".

Money raised from the event will be used to fund the Back 40 Festival, an annual festival featuring live local musicians and artisan vendors in Morden.

"[The Back 40 Festival] requires funding to bring in the high-quality entertainment," said Back 40 board member, Scott Bell.

The theme, Oktoberfest, came from past board members Ed and Cindy Rempel, and the rest of the members agreed right away.

"People hear 'Oktoberfest'," said Bell, "they already associate it with having fun, and music, and dancing, and food. So, it just captured what we wanted for this evening."

The event is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. For details, go to the Oktoberfest event page.
