Border crossings at Snowflake and Piney will soon have shorter hours of operation.

Starting October 1, they will be open daily from 9am to 5pm instead of the current 9am to 10pm.

Larry Conn is the District Director for the Canadian Border Services Agency.

He says traffic volumes at these ports have been much lower than neighboring ports.

Conn adds the move will allow them to re-assign some officers where they are most needed.

The corresponding U.S. border crossings will also be reducing their hours in October.
