There is still no word on what led to the collapse of an overpass in Laval, Quebec.

Manitoba's Department of Infrastructure and Transportation Assistant Deputy Minister Lance Vigfusson says nothing has happened like this in Manitoba.

Thanks to regular inspections, they have been able to catch any problems before they become hazardous.

Vigfusson believes the inspection system is working very well.

He adds many of the bridges in Manitoba were built just after World War II and in the early 60's.

The last inspection was made 3 years ago.
