The 16th annual Steak and Lobster Fest was held this past weekend at the 7-6 Ranch near Carman.

The event is a fundraiser for the Children's Wish Foundation and Children's Hospital Foundation.

Organizer, Deb Middleton described how the event turned out.

"It was very successful.  This was our fifteen year and so far our number is around $67,000 but I have a few bills left to pay so it's going to be pretty close to that number and maybe a little bigger.  The rain didn't keep anybody away and it only rained a little bit.  This year we had two large tents.  We had more than enough seating than the 400 people that came and it all went well."

Middleton noted each year ticket sales are increasing with this year totalling about fifty more than last year.

"Well overall I think the event goes off well.  The food is excellent with steak, lobster, potato salad and corn on the cob so you get a big meal.  And I think the cause the Children's Wish and the Children's Hospital, everybody is willing to help kids.  That is kind of a drawing card."

She added funds are also raised by selling tickets for various draws, auctions and raffles.

Meanwhile, 380 lobsters and 400 steaks were served for the event along with 95 pounds of potato salad.
