A warrant has been issued for a 38-year-old woman from Winnipeg after she was identified in a pair of thefts from two retail stores in Winkler on Friday morning.

The first theft was reported to Winkler police around 9:50 a.m. from a business on Norquay Drive. A woman had left the store without paying for several items.

A description of the female suspect was provided to police, along with the license number of the vehicle she was driving. That vehicle turned out to be reported stolen from Winnipeg on Thursday.

Ten minutes later, a second business, on Foxfire Trail, reported that a woman, matching the suspect and vehicle description, left that store without paying for several items.

Police were unable to track down the suspect and issued a call out to other police services.

Around 1:30 p.m., Manitoba First Nations Police Service reported officers found the stolen vehicle at Roseau River First Nation, but no one was inside, and neither were the stolen items.

The suspect is facing two charges of Theft Under $5,000, Possessing Property Obtained by Crime, and Driving while Disqualified.
