Mother's Day with Shear Bliss

You depend a lot on your Mom!  Advice, friendship, home cooked meals, a shoulder to cry on, a few words of advice, a listening ear.  We'll never stop depending on her, and we always enjoy spending time with her.  This Mother's Day, we're going to set you up with a little more time with mom courtesy of Shear Bliss Salon and Day Spa.  You could win a Pedicure and Manicure Package for you and your mom to share together.  All we want to see in return is those pictures of you and your mom spending time together in the way you love the most.  Maybe you like baking together, going for lunch, going out for walks, gardening together, or whatever else you do to spend some quality time with her.  Just take a picture of you and your mom together doing this, and send it to us!  Dad's you can take pictures of Mom and the kids too!

Send in your pictures now, because each weekday leading up to Mother's Day, we're giving away a  Bliss Body Care prize package to somebody who's already sent in their picture.

Shave for Cancer

Ginelle Elias was motivated by her 20 year old friend Stephanie Dyck who is currently battling Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma.  She is showing her support by organizing two events that will raise funds for Cancer Care Manitoba.

 

Event 1 - Saturday, April 6th:

$1 from every Blizzard sold on Saturday at Winkler Dairy Queen will go to Cancer Care Manitoba.  Stop by open to close and bring the family! 


Event 2 - Shave for Cancer - April 27th:

Join Ginelle at The Edge Salon in Winkler from 9-5 on April 27th as she and many others will be shaving their heads in support of Cancer Care Manitoba.  $15 for the shave with all proceeds going to Cancer Care.  You can also make a donation and keep your hair!  Tax receipts for donations over $15.

La Riviere Raptor Festival

The La Riviere Raptor Festival takes place April 6th in La Rivere, with all kinds of fun activities happening from 10-4 on the Saturday.

There will be bird watching, but also some real live raptors on site! Such as a Red Tailed Hawk, Great Horned Owl, American Kestral and even the rare Burrowing Owl.

Buy a Brick - Help them Skate!

We were recently joined by Carrie Hiebert and Eric Dueck who are on the committe fundraising for the soon to be built Pine Ridge Skate Plaza in Winkler.  Your family or business can purchase a brick that will be a part of the walkway leading up to the skate park.  Carrie and Eric shared all of the information you need in the interview below.
