You depend a lot on your Mom! Advice, friendship, home cooked meals, a shoulder to cry on, a few words of advice, a listening ear. We'll never stop depending on her, and we always enjoy spending time with her. This Mother's Day, we're going to set you up with a little more time with mom courtesy of Shear Bliss Salon and Day Spa. You could win a Pedicure and Manicure Package for you and your mom to share together. All we want to see in return is those pictures of you and your mom spending time together in the way you love the most. Maybe you like baking together, going for lunch, going out for walks, gardening together, or whatever else you do to spend some quality time with her. Just take a picture of you and your mom together doing this, and send it to us! Dad's you can take pictures of Mom and the kids too!
Send in your pictures now, because each weekday leading up to Mother's Day, we're giving away a Bliss Body Care prize package to somebody who's already sent in their picture.

The province's new bike helmet law which takes effect today, will require anyone under the age of 18 to wear a bike helmet or risk receiving a fine in the amount of $63. The legislation has been created to minimize avoidable injury to cyclists. From 2005 to 2009, 374 children were hospitalized for cycling-related injuries in Manitoba. Also, during this period, 54 children were hospitalized for a cycling-related head injury.
The Hartry family have a more personal connection to this law, and encourage everyone to get their kids helmets because of an incident that occured in 2006, for an exclusive interview and pictures of their daughters bike and helmet.
It's four weeks of whatever you want to do to be active! Join the Eagle as we take part in the Winkler Activity Challenge this May. The challenge is open to all who WORK or LIVE in Winkler. There's categories for individual entry, or you can enter as a business or classroom. (You can only enter one category).
There's a ton of great prizes available to be won, and even some prizes being awarded just for registering. The best part...You don't have to go all out and train for a marathon. Simply log the time you spend doing almost any form of physical activity. Most things you consciously do to add physical activity to your life outside of your typical work day duties counts! Walking, Zumba, biking, yard work....it all counts. (Example: Things like shopping, or that are a part of your normal work day don't count to this challenge, but if you make the decision to walk/bike to work or the store, that added physical activity would count towards the challenge!)
We're taking the challenge, are you in? Get your workplace involved and see if you can beat the Eagle and listen in May as we'll be giving you small challenges that could lead to even more prizes.
Speaking of prizes, here's some of the things you could win:
Individual Entry:
1st prize $200 in Active Wear 2nd prize - 3 mo. @ Core Fitness 3rd Prize - $100 to Time Out Sports
Business Teams:
1st prize - Pool and Pizza Party 2nd prize - Bowling and Pizza Party 3rd prize - 10 Family Swim Passes
Registration prizes: Subway Lunch, Golf Passes, Gingerwood Lane/1027 gift certificates and more!

Congratulations to our winners in the AGD Auto Glass Detailing "messy car stories" contest. The winner of the basic package was Cal Walters. Here's his story.
The winner of the Deluxe Auto Detailing package was Colleen Russell. Here's her messy story.
"When our three girls were little we used to buy fresh farm milk from my parents neighbors. The milk was in 4 liter glass jars and I put them on the floor in the back of the car. I apparently came to a corner too fast and one if the jars fell onto the other and smashed!!! The floor of the car was a pool of milk! Needless to say, hot summer days were not enjoyable!! And not long after, my husband constructed a wooden caring box for the jars of milk!"
