The Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation raised approximately $70,000 this weekend to purchase technology to detect breast cancer.

The money will be used to purchase a NeoProbe, which can detect lymph nodes that could contain cancer. The lymph nodes are removed and examined, providing a vital part of breast cancer staging and guiding further treatments.

Foundation Chair Debra Enns explains it's always humbling to see the banquet sell-out in support of their work.

"Every time the hospital comes to us asking for funding for a specific equipment it's something that's desperately needed," she says. "We try very hard to make sure we provide for them so that Boundary Trails continues to be the best possible facility."

She notes without the equipment patients are sent away to other hospitals.

The evening also featured a pink theme throughout to tie in with October's Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The Foundation hosted its 15th annual fundraising banquet Friday night at the Access Event Centre in Morden
