"Everyone should have a book to read," according to Coltyn, one of three grade 7 students at Carman Collegiate that's accepting book donations to give to students at Sanford's J.A. Cuddy School. The school and its library were damaged in a fire late this summer and the trio wants to help restock the shelves.

Although the group doesn't have a goal in mind, Coltyn says it would be nice to gather between 500 and 1,000 books. The students have collected about three boxes full of books so far.

Lily explains because J.A. Cuddy is a kindergarten to grade 8 school, they are looking for some books for younger kids as well as some novels in the grade 6 to 8 range. Donations can be dropped off at Carman Collegiate.

Fellow student, Lexie, says they plan to give the books to the Sanford students next month.

Meantime, this isn't the first time these three kids have rallied for a good cause.

Lily says they've done some bake sales in support of Carman Palliative Care and WE Day.

Lexie adds it's good to get involved and help out.
