Morden police were called to a local business on October 7 to assist in dealing with a customer that had been threatening staff members on several occasions. Police were familiar with the suspect and were asked to speak to him about his behavior. 

Police located the suspect and he was warned of the possibility of being banned from the premises. The suspect later returned to the business to apologize to the staff members. 

The suspect spoke to a staff member and was upset that police were contacted and made threats towards to them if police were contacted again. Police are continuing to investigate this matter as the suspect had been warned about his behavior.

October 3rd, 2016

Police received a report of a hit and run accident that occurred on Friday September 30th at approximately 11:30 am.  The driver of a blue 2008 Suzuki SX4 had parked outside the Hillside Community Church and left the vehicle unattended.  The driver returned to the vehicle and noticed damage to the front driver side area.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

October 6th, 2016

Police received a report of a lost Iphone 5, white in color, in the area of North Railway and 8th Street in Morden.  The phone does not have a case and has a slice of bread as the screen saver.   If the phone is located, please contact the Morden Police Service and it will be returned to its owner.

October 7th, 2016

Police were on general patrol on 19th street in Morden and noticed some Graffiti style writing on the side of the mailboxes.  Police believe the word written to be “SWIM”.  There have been numerous incidents of Mischief, involving graffiti, around the city and police believe this may be related.  Police are asking anyone with information regarding this incident, or any other graffiti incidents,  to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

October 9th, 2016

On this date, police were on general patrol and located a suspicious vehicle parked at the Morden Lake.  Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with the occupants.  While speaking with the driver, police observed an odor of marihuana coming from inside the vehicle.  The driver admitted to police that there was a small amount of marihuana inside the vehicle.  Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located several paraphernalia drug items along with a bag of marihuana.  The 21 year old driver and 20 year old passenger were cautioned for being in possession of marihuana and the items were seized for destruction.

October 9th, 2016

Police are currently participating in a School Zone Safety program.   As a result, police issued 16 Provincial Offence Notices to drivers ranging from Speeding, Driving Unregistered vehicles, Driving without Liability Insurance, Driving with unauthorized licence plate and operating hand held devices (cell phones).

October 10th, 2016

Police received a call from a Morden resident reporting that their vehicle had been stolen from in front of their residence sometime between 10:30 pm last night and 9:20 am this morning.  The victim described their vehicle as being a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander, mini-van style vehicle that is grey in color.  The licence plate on the vehicle at the time was a Manitoba licence plate HDW 651.  The vehicle was last seen parked in the 100 block of 11th street.  Anyone with information about this theft is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).   If anyone locates this vehicle they are asked to contact 911 immediately.
