The following is the Morden Police Service report for the period of September 19 to 26, as submitted by the department.

September 19th, 2016

Police have charged a 33-year-old male with fail to appear for identification purposes.  The accused failed to attend the Morden Police Service for the purpose of providing her fingerprints as required by a Summons issued on July 28th, 2016.  He will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court in October.    

September 20th, 2016

More graffiti reported on a wall located at the Scoular seed plant on South Railway Street in Morden.  Employees noticed the graffiti just over a week ago with more noticed after employees returned to work this morning.  Red spray paint was used to write the words “Scars”and “Swim”.  Some railway cars along the tracks were also observed to have similar words and colors with fresh paint.  The rear portion of buildings operated by Giant Tiger, Social Services, and Shoppers Drug Mart also noted to have similar painting.  While investigating these incidents, police were informed of more graffiti at the skate park with the symbol “AKTR” written with pink paint as well as on the footbridge in the Morden Park.  Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).  

September 21st, 2016

Police received a report of a hit and run accident that occurred on August 29th, 2016 around 11:20 am in the parking lot of Giant Tiger in Morden. The owner returned to her vehicle and noticed damage to the rear passenger’s side bumper on her 2002 blue Dodge Caravan.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

September 22nd, 2016

Around 1:47 am, police received a 911 call from a taxi driver that was assaulted by a male at the Tabor Home apartments on 9th Street.  Police attended and spoke with the victim who advised that he had attended the Tabor apartments to pick up several fares, one of which was the accused male.  The driver requested payment in advance of transporting the group, which the accused had an issue with and became upset.  The accused spit on the victim, grabbed him by the face, pulling off the victim’s glasses and cutting him over the ear in the process.  The accused then grabbed the victim’s cell phone from his hand and broke it.  At this time, the driver fled from the scene to call police.  Police obtained a description of the accused along with a name from a witness.  The witness saw the accused assault the victim as well as kick in a door to an apartment at the Tabor Home.  Police attended the apartment and observed the door to be damaged.   The accused was located inside the apartment with another individual and was intoxicated and/or under the influence of other substances.  The 25-year-old male was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily harm as well as mischief and uttering threats.  The accused is on several court orders to keep the peace and be of good behavior as well as to abstain from the consumption of alcohol.  He is charged with 1 count of Assault Causing Bodily Harm, 1 count of Breach Undertaking, 3 counts of Breach Probation, 3 counts of Mischief under $5000.00 as well as Utter Threats.  He was remanded into custody and transported to the Winnipeg Remand Centre and will be appearing in Portage Provincial Court September 26th.

September 24th, 2016

Police received a call around 2:10 am of a male individual that was passed out in the back seat of a vehicle in the parking lot of Rock’s Bar & Grill.  The owner of the vehicle did give the male a ride to the bar, but did not give him permission to use her vehicle to sleep in.  The owner tried to get the male to leave, but he was too intoxicated and could not wake him.  Police attended and after several attempts, was able to speak with the male who was extremely intoxicated.  The male was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and transported to cells to sober up.  The accused was also on an Undertaking not to consume alcohol.  The 18-year-old male from Plum Coulee was released in the morning on a Promise to Appear charged with Breach of Undertaking.  He will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court in October.  

September 24th, 2016

A vehicle was vandalized sometime overnight while in the parking lot of Milne Park Gardens on Stephen Street in Morden.  The owner parked his 2007 blue Kia Rondo in the lot around 10:30 pm the night before and returned to it around 10:30 am to find several areas damaged.  The vehicle had a flat rear tire with a small puncture mark as well as scratches over several areas of the vehicle.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).
