Morden Police are warning residents to remain vigilant online.

On March 3, police learned of a youth who received messages online requesting inappropriate photos. The person making contact was not known to the youth or their family.

It comes just days after local stakeholders gathered to hear on the danger of child predators. Anti-trafficking advocate and former MP Joy Smith provided a number of warning signs parents should look out for in their children.

-Coming home with two cell phones

-Wearing expensive clothing or other items

-Stories of older boyfriends taking them out to fancy restaurants

-Relationship moves very quickly

-Frequent sleepovers at a friend's house

-Child suddenly drops their circle of friends

-Change in attitude towards school or falling grades

"I don't want you to be paranoid, just educated," Smith says.

Police remind parents to monitor their children’s social media accounts, and children have received similar messages to contact the Morden Police Service at 204-822-4900.
