After a stretch of overly wet weather, the region has seen a break with extended sunshine this week.  That's giving some communities the opportunity to catch up on the growing number of mosquitoes.  The decision to fog in most areas is not related to the number of culex tarsalis being discovered in traps, but rather the large number of adult nuisance mosquitoes being counted.  Fogging will occur over the next number of days in the following areas.

Winkler:
Presuming weather conditions are conducive, fogging will occur on Thursday July 28, 2016 between 10 PM and 6:00 AM Friday July 29.  Spraying may occur twice in seven days. If spraying is cancelled due to weather conditions, adult mosquito control will be carried out as soon as weather permits.

Morden:
The City of Morden plans to undertake additional measures to the pest control program through ultra-low volume (ULV) fogging for adult mosquitoes throughout the entire city on the evening of Friday, July 29, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. of Saturday, July 30. Fogging will occur along boulevards and parks, Hillside Cemetery, Lake Minnewasta campground, and Minnewasta golf course. Recently annexed City of Morden areas will also be treated. The fogging treatment excludes private property.

Altona:
The Town of Altona will conduct fogging for mosquitos Friday, July 29th. Fogging will start at 9:30 pm through 6:30  am, weather permitting. They'll be using Malathion 95 for ultra-low-volume applications. This is the second application following Wednesday's initial fogging.
