Last week the Rural Municipality of Stanley council had the opportunity to hear the numbers for calls for service for the RCMP within the Municipality.

Carman Area RCMP Staff Sergeant Joanne Prejet presented the numbers to council, and noted there was a decrease in the amount of calls for service so far this year, when comparing them to last year.

"What's changed is that we do not open files any more for criminal record checks," said Prejet. "That is one of a high number of files. In the last year we had a decrease of 290, because we don't open a file every time. It's just a bulk file now. That shows in our numbers quite a bit. When you think about it we still have a person at the office doing 290 checks just for this one municipality."

Other notable decreases are that traffic collisions went down over 20 compared to last year. She added other criminal investigations are down including ones under the Mental Health Act, and Coroner's Act.

Meanwhile, there were some stats that were on the rise. Prejet stated these were traffic offences, which has led to RCMP writing over thirty more tickets.

"We have a program that is setup by MPI. They actually pay for the members to come out on overtime, because we can't pull members from doing their other work," said Prejet. "We have members on overtime from either the RCMP or the Municipal forces and we will get together and we'll do check stops periodically and throughout the Province. We've done some in the RM of Stanley. That will increase some of our traffic defence stats."
