Below is the Morden Police Report as submitted by the department for the week of September 12th to the 19th.

September 12th, 2016

A warning was issued after a customer refused to pay for a taxi fare. Around 1:30 am, a 26-year-old female was picked up from a residence in Morden and transported to the Royal Bank, then to Tim Horton’s in Morden. Once at Tim Horton’s, the driver asked for payment but the female got out of the car, gave him the finger and went inside. Police attended and spoke with the female who paid the cab fare and was advised she would be refused transportation in the future.

September 12th, 2016

Police received a report of vandalism to a vehicle while parked at the old boat launch at Lake Minnewasta in Morden. The owner parked her vehicle and went for a run along the trails around 4:30 pm. She returned an hour later and was approached by a witness who advised that a couple of kids had been jumping and running across the roof and hood of her vehicle. Unfortunately, the name of the witness was not obtained and police are asking for this person to contact police at 822-4900 to provide any additional information which may help in identifying the kids involved. The vehicle that was vandalized is a 2002 blue Suzuki Grand Vitara.

September 13th, 2016

Another vehicle was vandalized at Lake Minnewasta on September 10th sometime between 5:30 pm -7:30 pm. The owner parked his truck in the middle of the parking lot down at the current boat launch. He went out fishing on his boat and when he returned, he noticed someone scratched the driver’s side of his truck with an object, possibly a key. The vehicle that was damaged is a 2004 green Ford F350 truck. September 15th, 2016

A truck was vandalized while parked at the north end of Morden Park near the intersection of 15th and Gilmour Street between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm the previous night. The owner returned to his vehicle and noticed scratch marks on the passenger side of his truck. The truck is a 2014 red Chevrolet 1500. September 16th, 2016

Police were called to Thornview Grocery in Morden around 3:35 pm regarding a male who just took a package of cigarettes and a slurpee without paying. Police attended and caught up with the individual just south of Thornview Grocery on 7th Street. The 25 year old male appeared to be under the influence of a substance and was arrested for theft and transported to Morden Police Service. The accused was on three separate Probation Orders with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behavior. He is charged with one count of Theft under $5000.00 as well as three counts of Breach of Probation. He was released later in the evening when sober on a Promise to Appear in Morden Provincial Court in October.

September 17th & 18th, 2016

More reports received of vandalism involving writings on a Canada Post mailbox in the 400 block of 4th Street, on a City bench near the walking path into 4th Street from behind the Access Event Centre as well as the bathroom in the Morden Park.
