The Senate voted to pass Bill C-49 (The Transportation Modernization Act) late Tuesday by a vote of 41 for, 31 against and 2 abstentions.

Bill C-49 will be heading back to the senate, yet again.

On Tuesday, the House of Commons voted to reject the two Senate amendments made to the bill, with 163 in favour and 123 opposed.

The senate will now decide if they want to send the legislation for Royal Assent, meaning it would be passed, or they can insist on one, or both of the amendments they made and send it back to the House.

Time is ticking as the House rises on June 22nd, and further delays run the risk that farmers could see another crop year with no legislation in place to hold the railways accountable.
