The Manitoba Corn Growers Association (MCGA) held its Annual General Meeting last week at CropConnect.

President Myron Krahn says looking back on the past year, they were surprised with the average yield of 134 bushels per acre.

He touched on some of the research that's taking place.

"Some of the things we've been hearing from producers is they want more research and more up-to-date agronomy research, inparticular on soil fertility...we also have some crop rotation studies on the go. We're doing Goss's Wilt research trials."

Manitoba corn producers harvested 381,000 acres last year.

On the amalgamation front, Krahn says the board is 100 per cent in favour of joining together with the other four groups involved in the talks.

He notes there will be no changes to the board for this upcoming year.
