The third round of NAFTA talks wrapped up Wednesday in Ottawa.

Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) Vice President David Wiens was among those in the nation's capital, monitoring the negotiations.

"Certainly in terms of supply management, our government and our negotiators made it very clear that they will continue to support and defend supply management as we know it in Canada," he commented. "We are here following the talks to help ensure that our government negotiators will continue to walk the talk."

Wiens says while agriculture was a key focus throughout the week, there were many other issues discussed besides supply management.

The next round of talks are slated for mid-October in Washington.
