Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau is set to table the Liberal's 2017 budget on Wednesday.

The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) is optimistic that the budget will recognize the potential of investments in agriculture.

Among CFA's specific recommendations are tax policies that support young farmers, the development of clean technology and innovation, a broad-based market access and infrastructure system and ways to modernize Canada's internal trade system.

Manitoba Agriculture Minister Ralph Eichler is also hoping for some good news in the budget.

"We're hoping that we have part of the ag process through Growing Forward 3. I'm not sure that will announced," he said. "With more value added in Manitoba we need them to be at the table to help us with some of those initiatives."

The 2017 federal budget will be delivered Wednesday afternoon.
