Canada wants to be one of the first six countries to ratify the Comprehensive and Progressive agreement for Trans Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

International Trade Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne says the legislation needed to ratify the pending agreement will be presented to the House of Commons before the summer break, which starts on June 22nd.

The full text was tabled in the House of Commons on May 23rd.

The CPTPP will come into effect once 6 of the 11 member nations have ratified the agreement domestically.
