Manitoba Beef Producers had one of its largest turnouts ever for its 39th annual AGM held last week in Brandon.

President Ben Fox says they had lots of young producers take part in the event, with a young producer luncheon and forum held last Thursday.

"It was great to see some more peers show up, there was close to 40 producers in that room over the luncheon and a tremendous dialogue between the presenter and the men and women that were there as producers to build on their knowledge and get things figured out for what they want to tackle in their operation."

He talked about the organization's focus moving forward.

"We want to try and help create an industry that keeps people engaged and in tune with what's going on nationally," commented Fox. "Obviously trade issues, will be a big factor, crown lands are going to be a big factor, predation will be a focus as well, and obviously water management, things like that are going to be pretty vital in continuing to grow Manitoba beef numbers."

Fox notes the organization will have five new directors on the board this year, adding he'll be back for another term as president.
