Manitoba Beef Producers is wrapping up its fall district meetings this week.

General Manager Brian Lemon commented on some of the key topics that were discussed.

"We're having a real wholesome discussion on the changes that are coming to the vet drugs [antibiotics), and so we've got a couple of ex-vets that are coming out and actually making the presentation for us and explaining how the rules are going to affect producers. Certainly we're hearing about predation...We're hearing about some of the changes in crown land policies."

Discussions were also had surrounding a resolution that passed last year at the group's AGM around mandatory livestock inspection.

Lemon talked about the feed situation heading into winter.

"Producers probably had to work a lot harder than they have in the past to get the feed but I think for the most part producers that were looking for feed, found feed and were able to put plans in place to get through the winter. So, I think we're going to be OK."

The final district meeting takes place Thursday night at the Oak Lake Community Hall starting at 6pm.
