Manitoba Pork has donated $50,000 towards Siloam Mission's Make Room campaign.

Manitoba Pork Chair George Matheson presented the cheque on April 5, at the group's annual meeting in Winnipeg.

"Siloam Mission is so grateful for Manitoba Pork's on-going partnership and tremendous gift towards the Make Room capital campaign,” noted Jim Bell, Siloam’s CEO. “Their support of the new walk-in cooler will enable us to provide fresh food to people in our community who need our help."

In 2010, Manitoba Pork was the first top-level sponsor to sign on as a Partner for Change with Siloam Mission’s Sponsor the Meal program, an opportunity for local businesses to provide meals to Winnipeg’s less fortunate. Each year Manitoba Pork provides the Mission with a cash donation and approximately one tonne of high-quality, nutritious pork products.

“It is with great pleasure that Manitoba Pork takes part in Siloam Mission’s Make Room campaign by sponsoring a new walk-in cooler,” said Chair George Matheson. “It may be our job to provide high-quality, reasonably priced protein to the world, but it is our passion and commitment to help ensure food security here at home. We are proud to partner with this amazing organization and connect with our community by offering a hand up to those in need.”
