The Manitoba Forage and Grasslands Association (MFGA) hosted a tour in Russell, Manitoba on Wednesday to discuss its Aquanty water management project.

The Aquanty computer model focuses on the Assiniboine River Basin.

MFGA Chair Dave Koslowsky explains how the software works.

"As a modelling tool, we can manipulate how much water comes and if we sow different crops or grasses, how much does that stop the water from flowing?"

Potential users for the project include government organizations, conservation districts, and municipal leaders.

About 70 people took part in Wednesday's tour.

The Aquanty project is scheduled for completion in March of 2018.
