Manitoba Forage and Grassland Association (MFGA) Executive Director Duncan Morrison says the group's Aquanty water management software project should be completed this spring.

The HydroGeoSphere modelling platform will focus on the Assiniboine River Basin.

He explained how the software will be rolled out.

"The model will be built and then there will be a license for people to access this model. We're working on that accessibility right now. We're looking at ways that we can get the most amount of people to access the model and they can either figure out how that model can help look at flood or drought, to help them with decisions on their own farm, as well as throughout the area."

The tool, which was developed in partnership with the Assiniboine River Basin Initiative, will look at the role of forage and grasslands in times of flood and drought.

MFGA is hosting its AGM Friday in Brandon.
