Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers (MPSG) is expecting to see about two million acres of soybeans go into the ground this year.

That would be another record for Manitoba.

Production Specialist Cassandra Tkachuk says growers have been busy fulfilling that number.

"At this point in time, soybean seeding is fully underway and almost completed in the south central region of Manitoba. For the east, west, and northern growing areas of Manitoba, we're still at the start of soybean seeding, but I expect it to be fully underway in these areas as of this week. Seeding of peas and faba beans is now wrapped up in the province as well."

Tkachuk adds they're expecting to see about 130,000 acres of dry beans, and approximately 100,000 acres of field peas, which is down from last year due to the wet conditions in 2016.

She notes there will also be about 10,000 acres of other pulses planted including faba beans and lentils.
