Manitoba's soybean harvest is getting close to fifty per cent complete.

Provincial Pulse Specialist Dennis Lange says yields this year are coming in lower than what they were last year.

"That's to be expected with amount of rainfall that we got this summer, especially in that late July, early August time period where moisture levels were much lower than what they were last year," he explained. "I'm hearing yields anywhere from 20's up to mid-40's, but on average we're probably going to be somewhere between 30 to 35 bushels an acre around the province."

Lange notes last year the average yield was about 42 bushels per acre, which set a record.

He says the quality of this year's soybean crop has been pretty good, despite a few issues with splits and some immature seeds.
