Spring wheat is emerging nicely with the most advanced crops hitting that three to four leaf stage.

That from Pam de Rocquigny, general manager of the Manitoba Wheat and Barley Growers Association.

She notes stand establishment is looking good, with no real insect or disease issues.

De Rocquigny says weed control is the number one concern for most producers.

"I think a lot of guys are looking at their post emergent herbicide applications right now and so those are ongoing and of course that's to get timely weed control so we can maximize yields there," she commented.

She adds there still might be a few pockets of unseeded wheat acres in the western part of the province, due mainly to wet conditions.
