It's an exciting time the Pembina Valley Childcare Centre (PVCC) as the ground breaks for a $1.25 million facility in Morden.

Located next to the Morden Community Childcare Centre, the new location will add 90 spaces for children of three months to five years of age and create 17 new jobs in the community.

Shuana Richards, PVCC Director, says this new location will help meet the ever-increasing need for childcare in Morden, helping to put a dent into their waiting list of 156.

"It's very exciting; we've been needing more spaces for over ten years. When we first did this addition on this location now, it wasn't large enough even when we did it then, and the city is growing."

Funding the new facility has been aiding by the city of Morden with a $450,000 contribution and the land and a benefactor who will be announced during the sites sod turning. However, Richards says that doesn't include items to fill the building.

"There are a few things it doesn't include so we have to fundraise for an accordion wall for our infant spaces so it can close off a nap room area."

Other items include the security system, blinds, and puck board which will help protect the drywall.

Construction is now underway with plans of completion for March of 2020.
