An 18 year old woman was taken in to custody following an early morning stabbing in Altona.

Around 6 a.m. Friday morning, police were called to an altercation on Maple Bay, where they found the victim, a 27 year old man from Winnipeg, suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. He was taken to Boundary Trails Health Centre where he was treated and released.

The accused was also taken to hospital to be treated for what police say appears to be a self-inflicted knife wound.

Police note the man and woman are known to each other.

The investigation continues, and police say there is no threat to the community.
