Dense smoke from forest fires in British Columbia is blanketing the skies and obscuring the sun. Conditions are forecast to improve Friday.

The heavy smoke has caused Environment Canada to reduce the forecast high for Altona today to 26, from the 31 that was predicted yesterday.
