The Canola Council of Canada says canola seeding has progressed really well across the province, although there are still lots of acres that need to be planted.

Agronomist Angela Brackenreed has a few tips for producers heading out to the field.

"Ideally, we want to be half an inch to no more than an inch deep with our canola, and we want to ensure that we're saving that seed row for seed, obviously, and phosphorus only," she said. "And no more than 20 to 25 pounds of actual phos[phorus]."

Brackenreed adds it's important for farmers to make sure they're targeting a surviving plant stand of at least four to six plants per square foot.
