Harvest operations are moving along in southern Manitoba.

That includes the Jack Froese farm, Froese Enterprises Inc., near Reinfeld where all of the wheat has been taken off and combines have been switched over for canola.

"Crops have been pretty good. We got a little bit of rain on some of the wheat - discoloured slightly but the yield was running about sixty-five plus (bushels per acre)," said Froese. "We've done a little of canola and so far it's running about fifty plus."

As for the late season crops, Froese noted the recent heat has spurred dry beans to finish quite fast and while seed-size might be a bit under, he says it looks like it'll be a decent crop. Soybeans on the other hand, have struggled this year.

"We had a lot of moisture early on, so they were trying to get out from that. Then we got all the heat and dryness and they were struggling under that. But we got a little bit of rain a week ago and it sure did help a lot so it's still questionable to see how they're going to turn out," he said.
