"Video conferencing has changed dramatically since the onset of COVID-19."

That from Eden Healthcare Services CEO Kym Kaufmann who explains while video conferencing appointments had allowed psychiatrists to do emergency assessments in the past through the Province's Telehealth platform, now almost all their programs and services have shifted to a variety virtual platforms.

"It definitely allowed us to reach clients in a new way," Kaufmann says.

It's been so successful, she says they're planning to continue much of the virtual services into the future.

"We didn't ever anticipate there would positives associated with the worldwide pandemic that hit us, but we were forced to be creative in our approach to still meet the needs of our community."

Kaufmann notes the digital services will also become invaluable in a rural setting where access to a vehicle can prevent a barrier, as well as the unpredictable nature of our winters.

However, she says Eden still provides the same services in the traditional face-to-face experience, but with social distancing and hand hygiene protocols.
