On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at approximately 9:55 a.m., an officer with the Winkler Police Service was seated in the court room at the Morden Provincial Court when he saw a female in the court room arm herself with a set of “brass knuckles”. The officer, with assistance from Manitoba Sheriff’s Officers, immediately placed the suspect under arrest for having possession of the prohibited weapon.

Shortly after the arrest was made, officers learned that the suspect was on a Recognizance with a condition allowing police to search her vehicle at any time. A vehicle believed to be owned by the suspect was located parked outside the court house and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 6.86 grams of methamphetamine.

April Neufeld, age 26, of Winnipeg, has been charged with Possess Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Carry Concealed Weapon, Possess a Prohibited Weapon, and two counts of Breach Recognizance.

She was remanded in custody and was set to appear in court in Winnipeg on May 2, 2018.
